J. Lorraine Ghost Town
If you’ve ever driven east on Highway 290 from the city, you’ve probably passed the J. Lorraine Ghost Town turnoff. This strange recreation of an 1800s Western town is free and has an old, eerie vibe. The park also has a maze, an outdoor movie screen, a grill and bar serving the Ghost Burger, and a water slide.

What happens when you mix drama and improv? Theatrical wrestling league Party World Rasslin‘ holds slams at 4th Tap Brewing Co-Op. UT RecSports Adventure Trips
With its many parks and 300 days of sunshine, Austin is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts. Join one of UT’s adventure trips, which have included caving, rock climbing, and SUP. These trips are open to Longhorns and non-Longhorns alike (students get a cheaper deal), and they’re offered in the fall and spring to coincide with university semesters. Austin Steam Train
Austin Steam Train offers an old-fashioned alternative to the city’s traffic. The trains make round trips from Cedar Park, and you can choose which vintage car to ride. The 66-mile Hill Country train ride includes a stop in Burnet for a staged gunfight (weather permitting). The Beer Train, Murder Mystery, and North Pole Flyer are among their themed rides.
